March for Life 2018 themeToday's national March for Life honors one of the major components of the pro-life movement: organizations and facilities that encourage women not to abort their babies.

The 45th annual March for Life is occuring today in Washington, DC. Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life, explains the procession will move from the Capitol to the U.S. Supreme Court – the site where justices ruled abortion legal nationwide 45 years ago. Estimates are that at least 58 million preborn babies have been terminated since then.

"The march is one of the largest annual human rights demonstrations worldwide with well over 100,000 participants in attendance – primarily young people who want to abolish abortion, who believe that abortion is the human rights abuse of today," Mancini shares. (Below: President Trump addressed the March for Life from the White House Rose Garden earlier today.)

The theme for March for Life 2018 is "Love Saves Lives." In line with that, the participants are celebrating the pro-life pregnancy help centers that outnumber abortion clinics 4-to-1 across the U.S.; and the maternity homes throughout the country that lovingly encourage women with unplanned pregnancies to keep their babies.

"We know that love and sacrifice go hand in hand," Mancini says in explaining the theme, "that we find fulfillment in giving of ourselves, and that choosing life isn't always easy but that life is a loving, empowering, and right choice."

Speakers at today's march will include pro-life leaders, President Donald Trump (live via video), and various members of Congress who have worked tirelessly against abortion. One of those is Illinois Congressman Dan Lipinski, a pro-life Democrat who co-chairs the Bipartisan Congressional Pro-Life Caucus.

Jill Stanek of the Susan B. Anthony List tells OneNewsNow that Lipinski is a trustworthy vote on life issues.

"The pro-life issue is a core issue for him. He does not hide his strong pro-life beliefs," she states. "He fought for the Hyde Amendment in the healthcare fight; he has also been a sponsor of Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, the Born Live Infants Protection Act, the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, and the No Taxpayer for Abortion Funding Act."

Lipinski has been at odds with the rest of the Democratic Party, which supports abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. "Progressives" have mounted a campaign to convince voters in his district to oust him – and pro-life groups are mounting their campaign to re-elect him.
